The Hebrew noun
accurately translated “oven” refers to a “baking oven” as distinct from a
kiln or smelting furnace—both of which burn much hotter. (The Hebrew
nouns for “kiln” or for “smelting furnace” are more likely to appear in
contexts of God's wrath or judgment.)

my turn I shall rouse them to jealousy with a non-people, I shall
exasperate them with a stupid nation.

Saturday,
April 5, 2025-Myanmar earthquake death toll rises again to 3,354 with
hundreds still missing-Morgan Winsor-David Brennan.
The human
cost of last month's 7.7-magnitude earthquake that rocked Myanmar and
Thailand is still rising more than a week later, with Myanmar state
media revising the country's death toll up to 3,354 on Saturday.Another
4,850 people have been injured and 220 remain missing, the MRTV state
media organization said.At least 23 people have died in Thailand's
capital Bangkok, which was also rocked by the earthquake on March 28,
according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Most of the deaths
-- 15 -- are from the scene of a high-rise building that was under
construction when it collapsed as the powerful quake struck. Dozens of
others are still missing, city officials said.Search-and-rescue
operations remain ongoing in both countries.A number of nations,
including China and Russia, have sent rescue crews and disaster-response
teams to help Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating
earthquake.Rescue teams from the U.S. have been notably absent, The
Associated Press reported, amid ongoing efforts by President Donald
Trump's administration to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International
Development -- USAID.
US earthquake recovery team in Myanmar fired: Source-Jackie Koppell-Sat, April 5, 2025 at 1:14 PM EDT
(NewsNation)
— Personal Service Contractors, including the 3-person team that the
United States sent to Myanmar to help with earthquake recovery, are
being fired.A source familiar with the Bureau for Humanitarian
Assistance informed NewsNation of the move, though it’s not clear if
their termination is effective immediately or not.The team is still on
the ground in Myanmar. It was first reported by PBS.The source explained
that these people work when needed but if the contracts are ended, as
is now taking place, quickly responding to the next disaster becomes
impossible because they’re no longer, essentially, on retainer.Trump
says America is amid ‘economic revolution’In addition, the source said
life-saving awards, including food aid, that the State Department said
they would keep are now being terminated. As of Friday aid was canceled
for Yemen, Syria, Jordan and Afghanistan, according to the
source.NewsNation has reached out to the State Department for comment on
both.

Violent storms sweep through central US and prompt
evacuations in flooded Kentucky-Karina Tsui, Gene Norman and Susannah
Cullinane, CNN-Sun, April 6, 2025 at 10:43 PM UTC
Rising river
levels in Kentucky are prompting evacuations and warnings to move to
safer ground, with water rescues under way in flooded areas. The National
Weather Service earlier this week warned of the possibility of
“generational” flooding, stemming from a stagnation in the current
weather pattern that’s caused a string of storms to repeatedly hit the
same areas in the Central and Southern US.A line of violent storms has
swept from Texas to Ohio, leaving at least 17 dead since Wednesday. On
Saturday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency,
citing potentially record rainfall in areas unaccustomed to flooding.“We
need everyone statewide to take this seriously,” Beshear said.Residents
in low-lying areas of Frankfort, Kentucky, are being warned to prepare
for potential flooding as the Kentucky River is predicted to crest at a
historic high on Monday – just shy of the level flood walls are built to
protect against.“The flood wall system is designed to withstand 51 ft
of water, assuming all sandbag lines, temporary protection and levee
closure structures are in place,” the city said in a media release.“The
current river crest is predicted at 49.5 feet, which is the highest
recorded in history. At this level, these areas of uncertainty MAY
flood. Roadways in these areas have the possibility to be water covered
and inaccessible. Basements and lower level floors may get water,” the
city government warned.Franklin County Judge Executive Michael Mueller
said in a Facebook update Sunday that Kentucky State Police and the
National Guard were helping. The National Guard was going door-to-door in
the neighborhood of Bellepoint to assist with evacuations, Mueller
said. A lot of people in south Frankfort were being encouraged to leave,
he said.About 50 miles northeast of Frankfort, a mandatory evacuation
order has been issued for Falmouth, Kentucky, cutting the city off from
anyone except residents, CNN affiliate WCPO reported Sunday.“If you do
NOT live in Falmouth, you will not be allowed in town,” Pendleton County
public information officer Rob Braun said. Through traffic continues to
have access on US 27.Farther south, the Ohio River, which traverses
through Louisville, Kentucky, rose more than five feet in 24 hours and
is expected to rise significantly higher over the next two to three
days, Mayor Craig Greenberg said Saturday afternoon. The Hardin County
Sheriff’s Office said the Rolling Fork River was rising rapidly Sunday
and that numerous rescues were under way in the Colesburg area – some 30
miles south of Louisville. In southwest Kentucky, the mayor of Bowling
Green issued a state of emergency. “Stay out of flooded and low lying
areas. Law enforcement will be issuing citations to anyone caught
driving around barriers,” the city said in a Facebook post. The Kentucky
Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, the Administrative Office of the Courts
in Frankfort, and Hardin County courts will be closed on Monday. The
Franklin County courts will be closed all week.Tornadic storms cause
destruction, deaths-There were 87 reports of severe weather, including
four tornado reports, 78 wind reports, and five hail reports as
relentless rain and tornadic storms pummeled parts of the South and
Midwest Saturday.Among those killed in the violent storms was a
5-year-old boy found in a storm-battered home in Little Rock, Arkansas,
according to emergency officials. Local police discovered the child
after responding to a medical call at the home on Saturday. In Kentucky, a
9-year-old boy was swept away by floodwaters while walking to his
school bus stop in Franklin County on Friday, police said. In nearby
Nelson County, a 74-year-old was found dead in a fully submerged vehicle
on Saturday, according to the sheriff. One person was killed in Jasper
County, Mississippi, the state’s emergency management agency said
Sunday. Tennessee alone has reported at least 10 storm-related
deaths.About 22 million people are at risk for severe storms Sunday,
stretching from central North Carolina southwestward to the central Gulf
Coast, according to the Storm Prediction Center. The highest risk zone,
level 2 out of 5, extends from northern Georgia to eastern Louisiana and
includes cities such as Atlanta, Birmingham, Mobile, and New Orleans. In
these areas, storms are likely to produce damaging wind gusts up to 70
mph, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.A tornado watch is in effect for
southern and eastern Alabama, the Florida Panhandle and western and
northern Georgia until 6 p.m. ET.The watch area impacts 8 million people
and includes Atlanta, Montgomery and Mobile.A line of strong storms
moving eastward from Alabama could produce a couple of tornadoes and
scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph.Any tornadoes forming on
Sunday would mark the 11th consecutive day with tornadoes reported
somewhere in the country.Damage survey teams from the NWS have given
preliminary ratings to at least 31 tornadoes in eight states since the
outbreak began Wednesday. So far, they have found three tornadoes of at
least EF3 out of EF5 strength in Missouri, Tennessee and Arkansas.Over
56,200 customers in Central US were without power as of late afternoon
Sunday, according to PowerOutage.us. The hardest-hit state was Arkansas,
with nearly 75,000 in the dark overnight.Rising flood waters sweep
through communities and major roadways-This is the same system that
stalled out across the mid-South since Wednesday. While the heavy rain
has ended in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and
Tennessee, four flash flood warnings remain in Middle Tennessee,
including Nashville, as high water persists.Millions of people are under
a flood watch across parts of the Tennessee Valley, Ohio Valley,
central Appalachians, and the Southeast on Sunday. As strong
thunderstorms push eastward through the region, they have the potential
to produce 4 to 6 inches of rain, according to the Weather Prediction
Center.Additionally, runoff from the heavy rains means that flooding
will remain a threat as rivers crest, which in some cases may not occur
for several days.CNN’s Anastasios Stefanidis, Sarah Dewberry, Dalia
Faheid, David Williams, Chris Boyette and Sharif Paget contributed to
this report. For more CNN news and newsletters create an account at

crews install flood gates at the Riverfront Transit Center in downtown
Cincinnati, Ohio after days of heavy rain led to Ohio River
flooding.CINCINNATI – Downtown Cincinnati is experiencing flooding as
the Ohio River is forecast to reach 60 feet on Monday, the highest in
more than seven years. After days of heavy rain and severe thunderstorms
over the Ohio, Mississippi and Tennessee valleys, the Ohio River in
Cincinnati and Louisville are among the more than 140 river locations
experiencing moderate to major flooding.According to the National
Weather Service of Wilmington, Ohio, Cincinnati has received 4.98 inches
of rain in the past four days. Although the rain is forecast to end on
Sunday, flooding impacts will continue this week as floodwaters flow
into streams and rivers, likely causing more flooding. The last time the
Ohio River in Cincinnati surpassed 60 feet was Feb. 26, 2018. However,
it's nowhere near the record high of 80 feet during the 1937
flooding.CATASTROPHIC RAIN TRIGGERS FLOOD EMERGENCIES, EVACUATIONS ON
FOURTH STRAIGHT DAY OF RELENTLESS STORMS-If the river reaches 60 feet as
forecast, the NWS said significant flooding is possible in East End,
California and New Richmond, Ohio. Backwater floods could also affect
Silver Grove, Kentucky, and riverfront buildings in Aurora, Indiana.
According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, stretches of U.S. 52
are flooded, causing road closures due to high water. Riverfront parks,
including Smale, Yeatman's Cove and Swayer Point were closed over the
weekend due to flooding."While we understand the desire to observe and
document this flooding, please stay out of the area for your own
safety," Cincinnati Parks officials wrote. "The area south of Mehring
from Central Avenue to the Boathouse will be filled with debris,
potentially unsafe water quality, and fast-moving floodwaters. In
addition, lighting fixtures have been removed from the area lowering
visibility at night."The Ohio Department of Transportation installed
floodgates at Riverfront Transit Center in downtown Cincinnati.
According to ODOT Public Information Officer Matt Bruning, this is the
first time the gates have been used since 2018.The Greater Cincinnati
Water Works’ Stormwater Management Utility has also installed floodgates
on Mehring Way and Carr Street. The latest NOAA National Water
Prediction Service forecast shows the Ohio River cresting at 60 feet on
Monday around 8 a.m., five feet shy of major flooding. In Louisville,
the river is expected to crest at 35.60 feet on Wednesday, also the
highest in seven years. There is a Flood Warning for the Ohio River in
Cincinnati and Louisville until further notice.
BBC-Evacuations as wildfire spreads north through forest-Sun, April 6, 2025 at 4:50 PM EDT
People
and properties have been evacuated as a wildfire has spread over a
large area of forest in Galloway, in the south west of
Scotland.Emergency services were initially called to Glen Trool at about
23:50 on Friday, with police urging people to avoid the area. The
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said two crews remained on the
scene late on Sunday afternoon, with helicopters continuing to water
bomb the area. The Scottish government said it would hold a resilience
meeting to respond to the situation on Sunday evening.Rising
temperatures across the UK have led to wildfire warnings being put in
place for several parts of the country.Firefighters are also tackling
another wild blaze in the west Highlands near Ullapool.Police have
closed a stretch of the A835 between the Achiltibuie junction and the
junction at Badagyle.A spokesperson for the SFRS said the fire in
Galloway had now moved on to the nearby Lamachan Hill, but the blaze at
Bennan Hill had been extinguished.Police previously warned of a risk the
flames could spread to the Loch Doon area of East Ayrshire after a
change in wind direction.People living in the area, including near Loch
Doon, have been asked to keep windows and doors closed.A helicopter was
dispatched to assess damage to the area from above on Sunday
morning.Fire was 'miles wide' Stewart Gibson, team leader at Galloway
Mountain Rescue, said at one point fire crews had four helicopters
dropping water on the flames from above, with the fire front "two to
three miles wide" at one stage. He said five groups of walkers were
located on the hills on Friday night, but were safely moved away from
the area.Team members were acting as spotters for the police overnight
on Sunday, but were stood down at about 04:00.He urged anyone heading to
the hills over the next week to take care and avoid lighting camp fires
or naked flames.Mr Gibson told BBC Radio's The Sunday Show: "It's an
exceptionally dry period of weather we have been having and I know for
the next week it is going to be very dry as well."So anyone out with a
camping stove, anything can spark the fire, so we would urge anyone out
to take cares."We would advise people not to light camp fires and use
naked flames."Police urged people to stay away from the site and urged
and anyone camping nearby to leave. Areas affected include Merrick Hill,
Ben Yellary and Loch Dee.Another wildfire had been reported around the
same the area on Thursday and covered some 1.5 miles (2.4km).Scotland
has seen a number of fires over the last few weeks as the weather gets
warmer and drier. The fire service issued an "extreme" warning for
wildfires and the public has been urged to avoid lighting any fires
outdoors until next week.It warned that there was typically a large
volume of "dead, bone-dry vegetation across large areas of countryside"
at this time of year which acts as a fuel for fire. The SFRS said hills
are particularly prone to wildfires because the fire can spread far
quicker uphill than on flatter ground.BBC Scotland weather presenter,
Christopher Blanchett, said the south of Scotland had only recorded
about 30%-50% of its expected rainfall for March. However, some areas
close to the location of the fire at Glen Trool were drier still, with
Scottish Environment Protection Agency rain gauge data showing rainfall
at just 20% of expected levels. He said: "This part of the Galloway
forest hasn't recorded any rainfall for more than a week, with the last
wet weather here on 29 March."Overall, it's been a dry start to April in
Scotland and this followed a very dry March. There's no rain forecast
for the region for around another week too."In addition to the dry
conditions, Friday and Saturday have been quite windy across the south
west. On Friday night, the east-north-easterly winds were gusting close
to gale force on the Solway coast. He added: "All of these factors
combined can help fuel wildfires and allow them to spread".Meanwhile an
amber alert for wildfires is in place for parts of England, southern
Scotland and Northern Ireland until Monday.A huge gorse fire spanning
about two miles (3.2km) in the Mourne Mountains in County Down is being
tackled by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

Trump
digs in, says markets may have to 'take medicine' as stock futures
plunge-President Trump announces reciprocal tariffs, 10% baseline
levy-Updated Sun, April 6, 2025 at 8:07 PM EDT
US stock market
futures plunged on Sunday evening after the new US tariff policy began
collecting duties over the weekend and global trade tensions continued
to rise.President Trump and his top advisers dug in over the weekend,
with the president suggesting that equity markets may need to "take
medicine" and posting that the new tariffs are "already in effect, and a
beautiful thing to behold."Earlier on Sunday, administration officials
defended President Trump's plans across networks.Commerce Secretary
Howard Lutnick asserted that the tariffs "are definitely going to stay
in place for days and weeks." Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he
did not expect a recession spurred by the tariffs, and top economic
adviser Kevin Hassett insisted that Trump was not purposely trying to
tank the stock market after the president reposted a video that claimed
he was.On April 2, Trump announced a blanket 10% tariff on all goods
coming into the US. He also added new duties on goods from 185
countries, which the president described as the "worst offenders" in
terms of perceived unfairness on trade, slated to kick in on April
9.American customs officials began collecting the new 10% tariff on
imports from many countries on Saturday morning after the US stock
market saw its worst week since 2020. US futures dropped at the open on
Sunday evening while bitcoin, seen as a proxy for risk, sold off.Various
countries are still deciding how to respond (or not), and companies
have begun adjusting to the new reality — largely by raising prices.
Some countries responded with new tariffs of their own: Canada announced
new duties on certain vehicles imported from the US, and China
announced that it will impose countermeasures against the US starting
April 10, including a 34% tariff on US goods. The European Union is
reportedly preparing an initial set of countermeasures. The tariff rate
applied to the 27-nation bloc of EU countries under the policy is 20%,
and about 70% of the EU's exports to the US are covered. Trump adviser
and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, appearing at an event on Saturday, said that
"Europe and the United States should move, ideally, in my view, to a
zero-tariff situation.""This is the single biggest trade action of our
lifetime," Kelly Ann Shaw, a trade lawyer and former White House trade
adviser during Trump's first term, told Reuters.Speaking to reporters
aboard Air Force One on Sunday, President Trump said sometimes you have
to "take medicine" when asked about the market's recent sell-off,
according to Reuters."I don't want anything to go down, but sometimes
you have to take medicine to fix something," Trump said. The president
added that his policies were not intentionally trying to engineer a
market sell-off.Trump's comments come as markets appeared set to begin
the week where they left off Friday, with US stock futures down sharply
across the board with Nasdaq 100 futures off more than 4% and futures
tied to the Dow and S&P 500 both off more than 3.4%.Last week, the
Nasdaq closed in a bear market and the S&P 500's losses reached 17%
from the benchmark index's record high hit back in February. This
weekend, Trump's economic surrogates attempted to make clear in media
appearances that the president's shock tariff announcements last week
were not a negotiation tactic.Speaking Sunday evening, the president
said no deal on tariffs with China would be forthcoming unless the US'
trade deficit with China was fixed. The US trade deficit with China
reached $295 billion last year.Trump added that he has spoken to leaders
in Europe and Asia regarding his tariffs unveiled last week.Michael B.

Sunday, April 6, 2025-With Each Passing Day, The Words Of Biblical Prophecy Come More Clearly Into Focus BY-Jonathan Brentner.
Although
Jesus’ command for us to watch for His coming applies to all the ages
of church history, the closer we get to the time of His appearing, the
better we understand Bible prophecy. There’s always been a future reward
for believers who long for His appearing (2 Timothy 4:8), but there’s
something about today that enables us to see the end with greater
clarity. The words of Daniel 12:4 speak to the current unfolding drama of
the last days: “But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book,
until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge
shall increase.”I believe the prediction that “knowledge shall increase”
refers to a surge in our understanding of Bible prophecy, such as we
have seen during the past several decades. A few verses later, the Lord
confirms this latter-day expansion in our awareness when He told Daniel
that the “words” of his prophecy would be “sealed until the time of the
end” (Daniel 12:9).When I was in college fifty years ago, I believed the
Rapture could happen at any moment. Since then, like the cutting away
of layers of an onion, we have seen an unfolding of world events that
have not only confirmed the nearness of the Tribulation and thus to the
Rapture but have also enabled us to better understand the fulfillment of
events during the Tribulation.Below are some examples of how our grasp
of end-time events continues to grow.Mind-boggling Advances in
Technology. Back when Hal Lindsey’s book, The Late Great Planet Earth,
burst on the scene, we had only a vague idea, at best, of how the
antichrist could control the buying and selling throughout the entire
world. I envisioned a great army in every nation enforcing his
mandate. Now, with the advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the
development of gigantic databases, the Internet, and emerging worldwide
connectivity, the technology for the mark of the beast (Revelation
13:16-18) is already here. Not only that, but the globalists have plans
to mandate control of all commerce through a worldwide Central Bank
Digital Currency (CBDC). By the middle of the Tribulation, the beast
will be able to dictate the conditions for all buying and selling and
then mandate compliance with just the flip of a switch.Preparations for
the Beast’s Empire. Although in the works for well over a century,
during the past decade, the globalists have become more open about their
plans to implement a one-world government. Once regarded as “crazy
conspiracy theory,” we know that world domination is clearly the goal of
the World Economic Forum and the UN. It’s not even a matter of
speculation, though some refuse to see it.On a recent of Jan Markell’s
Understanding the Times broadcast, Billy Crone mentioned the necessity
of today’s ongoing preparation for the reign of the antichrist. Because
the Restrainer is keeping the antichrist’s identity unknown until after
the Rapture, it necessitates the existence of a group of elite power
brokers setting the stage for the antichrist’s rule. The globalists are
performing the necessary preliminary work that will later allow the
beast to rise to power over all the earth in a relatively short amount
of time.Israel’s Nonstop Wars as Preparation for the Beast’s Covenant.
Since 1948, the surrounding nations have repeatedly attacked Israel,
seeking to destroy it. Hamas’ barbaric attack on October 7, 2023, along
with the almost daily sirens warning of incoming missiles, the ongoing
conflict with Hamas, and Iran’s threats of annihilation are already
conditioning Israel’s leaders to accept the future peace “covenant” that
the antichrist will offer to them (Daniel 9:27).Unfortunately, the
people will trust the antichrist rather than God for their protection
(Isaiah 28:14-18).An Easily Deceived Populace. Jesus spoke about the
deception that will lead many astray during the last half of the
Tribulation (Matthew 24:24). In Revelation 13:11-15, John wrote about
how people will fall under the spell of the “beast” who will deceive
many with his great “signs.” The widespread deception and gaslighting of
our day not only points to the nearness of the Tribulation but is also a
preparation for it.The majority of those left behind at the Rapture
will not suddenly transition from discerning people to those whom the
beast will easily deceive. They will fall for his devices because they
have already rejected the truth and thus possess the “debased mind” Paul
wrote about in Romans 1:28-32.Lawlessness. I never thought I would see
such lawlessness and corruption before meeting Jesus in the air. Of
course, Paul described the coming beast as a “man of lawlessness” and
wrote that the “mystery of lawlessness is already at work” (2
Thessalonians 2:3, 7), but just twenty years ago, who could’ve imagined
what we see today on the streets and throughout our government? Not only
does this tell us that the Tribulation is ever so close, but it also
displays the conditioning of people to acquiesce to the insane degree of
anarchy during the Tribulation.Rampant Anti-Semitism. During the past
dozen years or so, hatred for the Jewish people has skyrocketed. Its
spectacular growth since October 7, 2023, defies all common sense. Yet
what we see today will continue to build until the last three and a half
years of the Tribulation when the deadly persecution of Jews will reach
epidemic proportions, likely worse than during WWII under Adolf
Hitler.Twenty-five years ago, I thought that anti-Semitism would need to
increase so as to make this level of demonic hatred for the Jewish
people possible. Sadly, we already see it even though the Tribulation
has not yet even begun.A lot has changed since my college days. Our
understanding of Daniel’s prophecies and those of the book of Revelation
have increased just as the Lord told the prophet (12:4, 9). As the
drama of future Bible prophecy continues to unfold, I’m reminded of the
words of Daniel 12:10: “Many shall purify themselves and make themselves
white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of
the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall
understand.”God’s Word shouts with the message that we live in the
season of Jesus’ appearing. The wise understand the times because they
believe the words of Scripture pertaining to the end times.Posted by

Show leadership like Trump': MKs
call for Hebrew signs on Temple Mount ahead of Passover-"There is no
justification for the absence of directional signs to the Temple Mount,
the holiest site to the Jewish people," a letter signed by 10 MKs
said.By JERUSALEM POST STAFF-APRIL 6, 2025 16:46
Ten MKs called
for Hebrew signs to be positioned in the Old City, pointing the way to
the Temple Mount and on the sacred site, ahead of Passover.“World
leaders warned before the US Embassy was moved to Jerusalem - and
nothing happened,” the signatories wrote in a letter on Sunday to
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion.“Show leadership, like [US] President
[Donald] Trump,” they said. “There is no justification for the absence
of directional signs to the Temple Mount, the holiest site of the Jewish
people.According to the signatories, 50,000 Jews visited the holy site
on the Jewish holiday last year, with the lack of signs being called to
attention in an ombudsman report published in 2010.Likud MKs Dan Illouz,
Nissim Vaturi, Hanoch Milwidsky, Moshe Passal, Keti Shitrit, Amit
Halevi, Ariel Kallner as well as Religious Zionist Party MK Simcha
Rothman and Otzma Yehudit MKs Yitzhak Kreuzer, and Limor Son Har-Melech
signed the letter.'A discriminatory policy'The missive was dispatched at
the initiative of Beyadenu, a nonprofit organization that supports the
realization and application of full Israeli sovereignty on the Temple
Mount, full equal rights for Jews on the site, and the restoration of
the site back to its natural status as the heart of the Jewish nation,
according to their website.“The discriminatory policy of the Jerusalem
Municipality is unacceptable,” Tom Nisani, CEO of Beyadenu, said, “On
the one hand, the entire city is networked with signs directing to the
mosques, but there is not even one single sign for the Temple Mount in
Hebrew. The holiest place for Jews in the whole world.
Female
observers 'indispensable' to Israel's security, IDF Chief of Staff Zamir
says-He emphasized the importance of the role and the need for more
recruitment into the IDF from all populations.By YANIR YAGNA, WALLA!,
JERUSALEM POST STAFF-APRIL 6, 2025 14:08
The Israel-Hamas War has
proved that IDF female field observers are an indispensable part of
maintaining Israel’s security, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir
said Sunday.“The war has proven more than ever that the female observers
are an indispensable part of maintaining the security of the state,” he
said during a visit to the Tel Hashomer recruitment office. “They are
the eyes of the state. The IDF failed on October 7; the female observers
who were on duty did not fail. They were the first to act with courage
and heroism under fire.”Zamir and IDF Personnel Directorate Commander
Maj.-Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa said the IDF needed increased recruitment from
all segments of the population.“The IDF operates in all areas, and in
all of them, there are challenges, so each and every one of us needs to
adapt ourselves to all of them,” Zamir said. “The IDF’s position is
clear, which is equality of burden. Whoever gives more will receive
more.”Parents of field observers asks IDF to recognize heroism-Last
Thursday, the parents of IDF female lookouts and operations officers who
were killed at the Nahal Oz base during the October 7 massacre called
on Zamir and Defense Minister Israel Katz to formally recognize their
daughters’ heroism.“They were abandoned in life and in death, but they
acted with courage and saved lives,” the parents wrote in a letter. “The
IDF must award them a decoration that reflects their bravery.”The
parents described their anguish following a military debriefing they
received about a month ago.“Our minds still refuse to grasp the scale of
the failure and abandonment,” they wrote. “Our hearts will never
heal... Our daughters warned about the drills, the buildup, the
training, the white Toyotas, and nothing was done. Even when they
reported that they were being watched, no one acted.“They were abandoned
in life, abandoned to die, abandoned in death. Soldiers of no one.”“In
the debriefing, we also learned about the heroism of the soldiers. We
received the official confirmation of what we already knew: the bravery
of our daughters – the lookouts and operations NCOs – on the morning of
October 7, who showed extraordinary courage, camaraderie, determination,
and devotion in the face of the enemy.“Those who were on shift in the
operations room reported until the very last moment – at the cost of
their lives – with composure, professionalism, and determination. They
guided forces across the region, even as their own base came under
attack, fully aware of what it meant.“The briefing stated explicitly
that their reports saved lives. Those who had finished their shift –
even just half an hour earlier – and sought shelter in the exposed,
unfortified shelter protected and cared for one another until the very
end.“We also learned that two lookouts managed to deflect grenades
thrown into the shelter by terrorists – with their bare hands, barefoot,
in pajamas. They acted heroically and saved lives.Completing their jobs
until the last minute-Those who were on shift in the operations room
reported until the very last moment – at the cost of their lives – with
composure, professionalism, and determination. They guided forces across
the region, even as their own base came under attack, fully aware of
what it meant. The briefing stated explicitly that their reports saved

(migunit), protected and cared for one another until the very end.We
also learned that two lookouts managed to deflect grenades thrown into
the shelter by terrorists – with their bare hands, barefoot, in pajamas –
they acted heroically and saved lives.”The parents concluded their
letter with a request to the chief of staff and the defense minister,
ahead of Israel’s upcoming Memorial Day, to officially recognize the
courage of their daughters.“Given their performance under fire and their
courage on the morning of October 7, as well as their extraordinary
conduct before that date, we believe the IDF should formally acknowledge
the heroism of the Nahal Oz lookouts and operations NCOs by awarding a
decoration that reflects their bravery, sacrifice, and total dedication
to their duty.“The Nahal Oz lookouts and operations NCOs must not be
remembered solely as symbols of abandonment and failure; their legacy
should be written in the IDF’s history books in the chapter of Israeli
heroes and heroines,” the parents wrote. The letter was signed by the
parents of the fallen soldiers: Shahaf Nissani, Aviv Hajaj, Shirat Yam
Amar, Maya Villalobo Polo, Noa Marciano, Shay Ashram, Hadar Miriam

15
So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an
astonishment unto the (ARAB/MUSLIM) nations that are round about
thee,(ISRAEL) when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in
fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.
16 When I
shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their
destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase
the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
17 So will I

18 And another angel came out
from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to
him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and
gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully
ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and
gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of
the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the
city,(JERUSALEM) and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the
horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.(200

ISAIAH 66:15-18
15 For, behold,
the LORD will come with fire,(NUKES) and with his chariots like a
whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of
fire.
16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
17
They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens
behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination,
and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
18 For I
know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather
all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:(FROM FRIGHT)
8
And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them;
they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed
one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
9 Behold, the day of
the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land
desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For
the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their
light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall
not cause her light to shine.
11 And I will punish the world for
their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the
arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the
terrible.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13
Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of
her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his
fierce anger.
ISAIAH 24:17-23 KJV
17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
18
And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the
fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of
the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are
open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
20
The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed
like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it;
and it shall fall, and not rise again.
21 And it shall come to pass
in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that
are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22 And they
shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and
shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be
visited.
23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed,
when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and

UK finds underwater suspected Russian nuke spy sensors: report.
London,
April 6 (AFP) Apr 06, 2025-The UK military has found Russian sensors in
seas around the country that it believes were attempting to spy on its
nuclear submarines, the Sunday Times reported. The Royal Navy found some
devices planted on the sea bed while several washed ashore, the
newspaper reported.Military and intelligence chiefs believe they were
planted to gather intelligence on the UK's four submarines that carry
nuclear missiles."There should be no doubt, there is a war raging in the
Atlantic. This is a game of cat and mouse that has continued since the
ending of the Cold War, and is now heating up again," a senior UK
miliary figure told the paper. The newspaper's three-month investigation
said it had discovered unmanned Russian vehicles "lurking next to
deep-sea communications cables".The government also had "credible
intelligence" that Russian oligarch-owned superyachts may have been used
to conduct underwater reconnaissance, said the report.
Sunday, April 6, 2025-US said to transfer 2nd THAAD missile battery to Israel as Iran nuclear tensions rise-BY Emanuel Fabian
The
US transferred a second THAAD anti-missile defense battery to Israel,
according to a report published Sunday, amid rising tensions between
Washington and Tehran. The Saudi Al-Hadath channel reported that the
battery arrived in Israel on Saturday, as Iran and the US have traded
threats in recent days surrounding talks over the Iranian nuclear
program.Flight tracking websites showed that an American C-5M Super
Galaxy, the US Air Force’s largest transport plane, landed at the
Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel on Saturday and remained there for
around eight hours before taking off again. The THAAD, or Terminal High
Altitude Area Defense System, is an advanced anti-missile system. The
first THAAD battery was rushed to Israel last year, and around 100 US
troops are thought to be deployed to operate the system, which is
considered a complementary system to the Patriot system but can defend a
wider area, capable of hitting targets at ranges of 150-200 kilometers
(93-124 miles). It also integrates with Israel’s existing multi-tier
missile defense systems. The system has been used to intercept several
missiles fired at Israel by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, including
in recent weeks.PM to meet Trump, will discuss ‘Iranian threat’The
reported transfer of the THAAD system to Israel came a day before Prime
Minster Benjamin Netanyahu was set to arrive in Washington for a visit
with US President Donald Trump, where the two leaders plan to discuss
“efforts to reach a hostage deal, Israel-Turkey relations, the Iranian
threat, and confronting the International Criminal Court,” according to
the Prime Minster’s Office. It will be Netanyahu’s fourth trip to
Washington since the war in Gaza began and his second since Trump took
office in January. The visit will also make Netanyahu the first foreign
leader to negotiate in person with Trump over the US president’s
sweeping new tariff policy, which includes a 17% tariff on Israeli
goods. As regards Iran, a report on Channel 12 on Saturday said that
Israel is anxious to ensure that, with Trump declaring a readiness to
negotiate a new deal designed to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear
weapons, Israel’s essential interests would be taken into account. If
there are no new negotiations, and with the US sending forces to the
region, then Israel needs to coordinate with the US on a potential
attack, the report said.Last week, Trump threatened Iran with “bombing”
and secondary tariffs if Tehran did not come to an agreement with
Washington over its nuclear program. Iran has responded by saying it
prefers talks but is prepared for conflict if the US chooses that
route. However, on Sunday, Iran said talks would be “meaningless” if the
US keeps threatening an attack.Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said
Sunday in a statement that “direct negotiations would be meaningless
with a party that constantly threatens to resort to force in violation
of the UN Charter and that expresses contradictory positions from its
various officials.”“We remain committed to diplomacy and are ready to
try the path of indirect negotiations,” Araghchi added. “Iran keeps
itself prepared for all possible or probable events, and just as it is
serious in diplomacy and negotiations, it will also be decisive and
serious in defending its national interests and sovereignty.”The
commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), General Hossein
Salami, also responded to Trump’s threats on Saturday, saying that Iran
is “ready for both psychological warfare and military action by the
enemies.”“We are not worried at all,” Salami said. “We will not start a
war, but we are ready for it.”Last year, Israel carried out a wave of
retaliatory airstrikes on Iran after Tehran carried out a second missile
attack on Israel.Israeli jets targeted Iranian air defenses as well as
its ballistic missile program, striking factories, storage sites,
launchers and research facilities, and targeting one facility believed
to be used for the regime’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon.Iran’s nuclear
sites are also widely seen as more vulnerable with many of Tehran’s

IAF
pilot to 'Post': How Israel established air supremacy over Middle
East-Fighter pilots told the "Post" that they estimated some 70% of
Syria's firepower was destroyed during the IAF's December strikes on
Damascus.By YONAH JEREMY BOB-APRIL 6, 2025 20:48
In December, the
IDF’s F-16 squadrons, along with other combat aircraft, carried out
devastating attacks against the Syrian military’s capabilities to
threaten Israel, including flying low over the palace in Damascus, one
of the pilots involved has told The Jerusalem Post in a recent
interview. In fact, Lt. “Y.” has been involved in critical and historic
airstrikes not only against Syria, but also against Lebanon and Gaza,
and it can be assumed have been involved in the latest air force strikes
against Israeli adversaries. To complete the picture, the Post also
interviewed Lt. “T.,” who piloted an F-16 in key strikes on Yemen and
Lebanon, while in addition, the Post has spoken to IDF sources involved
in striking Iran.Until 2017, the F-16 squadrons were Israel’s preeminent
lead aircraft for all combat missions, though the F-15 fighter also
often played an important component.Even since 2017, when the F-35
emerged as Israel’s most cutting-edge fighter jet, the F-16 remains
extremely formidable and involved in just about every critical Israeli
attack on all fronts. In January, the Defense Ministry announced an $80
million purchase of more advanced self-protection systems for its
fourth-generation F-16I fighter aircraft, just as top Israeli and IDF
officials had increased in recent months their discussion of striking
Iran’s nuclear program.Complex operation in Syria-Describing his
airstrikes in Syria, Lt. Y. told the Post, “Operations in Syria used to
be a major challenge and complex. After the revolution by the rebels,
the air defense systems stopped operating, which allowed the Israeli air
force to act freely. We could map out [more aggressive and risky] plans
with much less concern about our planes getting hit” by Syrian air
defense.“We achieved supremacy in so many places where we normally would
not have operated” because of dangers posed by the Syrian air defense,
said Y.Y. stated, “The first attack was at night and I was part of a
large fleet of aircraft going after military targets around Damascus. I
looked around me and saw a powerful convoy. Anything would be possible,”
in terms of the potential impact of the attack on Syria.IDF sources
said that since Syria and Damascus were free of anti-aircraft defenses,
the F-16 squadrons and other attack aircraft were able to fly over the
palace and the international airport. Many of the flights during that
period also broke through new areas of Syria to find new levels of
physical intelligence and surveillance.Estimates from IDF sources are
that around 70% of Syrian firepower and quality weapons were destroyed
during that period, and even in recent days, the air force has destroyed
new major targets, such as Syrian aircraft runways, to try to stop
Turkey from taking over those positions.Next, Y. said that there could
be a variety of different fighter jet strategies and formations for
different attacks, saying, “Everything depends on the specific scenario
and how many aircraft are involved. Sometimes there are more and
sometimes less, which in turn depends on the kind of quantity of
targets.”Regarding Iran, IDF sources have said there is a special level
of threat from their air defenses.Further, sources have indicated that
going up against and destroying Iranian S-300 air defense systems was an
incredible first for the air force. One thing that is unique about
attacking, but that is even worse for F-16s and other aircraft attacking
Yemen, is the extreme distance, with the Islamic Republic coming in at
around 1,500 km. and Yemen coming in at around 1,800 km.Lt. T. noted to
the Post that attacking the Houthis in Yemen is “even farther than Iran.
A very long flight of five hours. We need to refuel to get there. This
is not simple and requires lots of attention and focus. It proves our
capabilities in the air force. We know how to ‘close’ [against enemy
targets]. We did it several times. This is all to defend our country’s
citizens.”Describing one attack, he said, “We struck all of the Yemen
infrastructure that we needed to strike.”Also, T. stated, “It’s been
published that we struck critical economic targets that will cost the
Houthis lots of money to rebuild. And targets that will stop their arms
transfers and movement.”Going into more detail about the challenges of
midair refueling, he noted, “We learn these skills during training after
the initial pilots’ course. There are different scenarios for how high
and far we need to fly, which impact how long and what kind of refueling
takes place.” IDF sources said different procedures are used for
refueling both during the day and night, but that the air force is ready
for both.“It was a very long flight. There is no way to fully train for
it – it is a different level of difficulty. You make mental and
psychological preparations and try to get lots of sleep beforehand,”
said T.Moreover, T.’s experience was special as he was “the first to do
this at such a young age – it is a truly special moment. The feeling
afterward, after landing from such a long flight, was tremendous.”IDF
sources said that they made sure there was extra fuel for the F-16s when
they attacked Yemen in case any exceptional issues came up, given how
long the flights were.In fact, the IDF has different technical
pre-flight procedures for such long-distance attacks.Further, sources
indicated that while Yemen’s anti-aircraft defenses are weaker than
Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, they should not be disparaged.Moving on to
Lebanon, T. said that when he flew his F-16 during attacks against
Hezbollah, “It was a powerful experience to see the capabilities of the
air force destroy large portions of Hezbollah’s capabilities. Anyone who
threatens us must take note. And it was at such a fast pace from the
start of the operation until we destroyed their capabilities. We had
trained so extensively and then got to see the fantastic results.”“We
struck rocket firing platforms and weapons storage locations – anything
that could be used to fire on Israel and force people to run for their
safe rooms,” said T.Returning to F-16 pilot Y., he said the airstrikes
on Hezbollah were “very substantial, especially to attack from the air
in parallel to our invading forces and having received targets from our
forces that were threatening them on the ground, so we could help them
in real time. I had many of my friends fighting on the ground.”Y. added,
“We helped remove a threat [to Israeli forces]... by cooperating with
other IDF forces.”Also, Y. said that he has flown F-16 attack missions
in all areas of Gaza, from northern Gaza to Khan Yunis to Rafah,
including “a few operations where we helped provide air support for
returning hostages to Israel. Every operation can be different.”IDF
sources also said that, as much as the F-16 and other fighter jet
attacks weakened Hezbollah, it remains a threat. Moreover, the sources
indicated that there are both similarities between an attack in Gaza and
Lebanon as well as qualitative regional and intelligence
differences.Part of what has been so remarkable has been the young age
of these ace F-16 fighter pilots, with T. being only 22 and having only
served five and a half years in the military.T. said the above-mentioned
attacks have left him “very fulfilled” in helping defend Israel from
threats.“This was a very unusual war. People our age never dreamed of
such events: the volume of attacks we joined in on, the level of
intelligence, the special operations, the targeted killings, and crucial
missions were beyond crazy. To accomplish this at our age was a major
jump in levels,” said T.Y. was one of the next youngest fighter jet
pilots and added, “Personally, it was very special and important for me
and made me very happy.”He has served in the air force for five years in
the IDF, and is currently 23.Not that there are no complex moral
questions for these young pilots.Regarding avoiding striking civilians,
Y. stated, “We completely stopped attacks anytime there were innocent
civilians in the vicinity. Many times we stopped attacks because of
civilians, and we only attacked later if the area was clear of them.”T.
added, “I don’t see the ground well. Drones can see better. They zoom
in. But the control tower and targeting command will say ‘abort, abort.’
Sometimes we work with drones, which are giving us intelligence, and
sometimes with other forces [on the ground], who will warn us if there
are women or children near a terror target.”Discussing the F-16 versus
other combat aircraft, IDF sources noted that each one is an important
part of the air force, and every platform has its different advantages,
with the air force trying to maximize the synergy between them.Regarding
real-time changes to the plan when unexpected challenges arise
mid-operation, sources indicated that they communicate with the control
tower and with the command center at military headquarters. They
described a process of giving feedback to the control tower as well as
some communications in the air between the pilots. The pilots said that
some threats are close and some far, but that the F-16s can get anywhere
they need to. “No matter the distance, we strategize versus the threat,
and then we can deal with them all.”
Hamas fires ten rockets at
South, one wounded in Ashkelon-The police said it was operating in an
area of Ashkelon where an impact had been reported.By JERUSALEM POST
STAFF-APRIL 6, 2025 21:13
A man in his 30s sustained light wounds
from rocket shrapnel following Hamas's rocket barrage in Israel's
South, Israel's emergency response service, Magen David Adom (MDA),
reported on Sunday.Starting at 9:01 p.m. local time, rocket sirens
sounded in the areas of Ashdod and Ashkelon. The military said some 10
rockets were fired at Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, half of
which were intercepted. Several impacts had been reported in various
area, the IDF added. After being briefed on the situation, Prime Minister
Netanyahu, who was on his way to Washington, told Defense Minister
Israel Katz to respond with force. He also approved the continued
increase of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip. Katz
responded: "I instructed the IDF to carry out a powerful blow against
Hamas. We will not accept rocket fire at Israel." Shortly after this
statement, the IDF reported that an air force jet had attacked the
launcher from which the launch was detected.MDA said its paramedics
transferred to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon the man who was
in light condition. Paramedics also treated a number of individuals who
were suffering from anxiety and who had been injured while running to
shelter. The police said it was operating in an area of Ashkelon where
an impact had been reported, while the Ashkelon Municipality noted a
rocket that had crashed in the city had caused damage to
property.Hamas's military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades,
subsequently claimed responsibility for the rocket barrage.Responses to
the rockets-"If anyone needed a reminder of why we must not stop just
before the destruction of Hamas, they received it this evening in the
form of rocket launches from Gaza to the cities of the South," Finance
Minister Bezalel Smotrich shared on X/Twitter shortly after."We promised
the citizens of Israel that Hamas will be destroyed and the residents
of the South will be able to live in peace and security for many years,"
Smotrich added, noting, "we will stand by that."National Unity head
Benny Gantz wrote on Twitter/X following the barrage, "Hamas is the
enemy, which, after a year and a half of war, is still firing missiles
at Israeli citizens." "Israeli citizens didn't really need a reminder,
but apparently, the Prime Minister and coalition members did," Gantz
asserted, adding the enemy was "not the head of the Shin Bet, not the
attorney-general, not the High Court of Justice."The State of Israel
deserves leadership that focuses on defeating our enemies," Gantz added,
rather than one that concentrated on "internal strife and
division."This is a developing story.
Shin Bet, police thwart
major Ramadan terror plot in Jerusalem, suspect planned bombings-A
suspect decided to purchase a vehicle to run people over with before
planning to stab the ramming victims with knives at a central bus stop
in Jerusalem.By JERUSALEM POST STAFF-APRIL 6, 2025 17:58
Jerusalem
District Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) thwarted a
planned combined terror attack intended to occur during Ramadan in
Jerusalem, a joint statement confirmed on Sunday. The suspect, a resident
of Shuafat refugee camp in his 20s, was arrested approximately a month
ago and is alleged to have prepared pipe bombs and purchased knives in
order to carry out multiple attacks at various locations across
Jerusalem. An investigation revealed that he planned to place explosives
on the light rail or a bus, or in a restaurant in south Jerusalem. The
suspect had begun taking "concrete steps to carry out these plans," the
police expanded, by studying how to construct explosives and deciding on
which method of detonation to use in the attack. At one stage, he
acquired pipes, matchboxes, firework fuses, and other materials to
construct pipe bombs, and at a later stage, he decided to carry out a
ramming and stabbing attack. He began taking driving lessons and
purchasing large knives, which he had in his home, the police stated. He
also decided to purchase a vehicle to run people over with before
planning to stab the ramming victims with knives, the police
continued.Shortly before Ramadan began at the end of February, he
decided to carry out the attack at a central bus stop in Jerusalem. The
investigation also revealed that the suspect "aspired to become a
martyr" and frequently listened to Quranic verses to motivate himself to
kill Jews. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended his detention
several times, and an indictment is expected to be filed against him by
the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, the police confirmed.Precedent
of attempted attacks-Israel Police and Border Police also arrested four
teenagers in east Jerusalem who made multiple pipe bombs and placed
them under a light rail station in Jerusalem.Ramadan is known to be a
time of heightened tensions and radicalized activity within the Arab
community of east Jerusalem. In the build-up to this years holy Islamic
month, Israel Police noted that terrorist organizations exploit Ramadan
to “incite and disseminate misleading narratives about events in
Jerusalem, especially in the Old City and on the Temple Mount.”.
Katz
unveils intercepted document connecting Iran to Hamas Oct. 7
invasion-The document was intercepted by Israeli soldiers during the

YONAH JEREMY BOB-APRIL 6, 2025 17:46
Defense Minister Israel
Katz on Sunday disclosed to the public a document and communications for
what he said was proof of the Hamas and Iran connection relating to the
Gaza terror group seeking financial support for the October 7
invasion. The document was intercepted by Israeli soldiers during the
invasion of Gaza and forwarded to the IDF intelligence Catalogue unit,
which analyzes intercepted foreign intelligence items.According to Katz,
the document and communications show that Hamas requested $500 million
from the Islamic Republic "to destroy Israel", sometime before or
leading up to the October 7 invasion.Further, the defense minister said
that the head of Palestinian Affairs for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps Quds Force, known as "Izadi," approved the request made by
now-deceased Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif.Tehran-backed
terror-Katz said that Izadi said he would approve the terror financing
assistance despite Tehran being under financial strain and sanctions
because of the supreme importance of embracing conflict against Israel
and the US.He added that the world must realize that Iran is "the head
of the snake" which has directed the malign activities of Hamas,
Hezbollah, the Houthis, and terror groups in Syria and Iraq.Despite the
revelation, Israeli intelligence has said Iran did not know the exact
timing or plans of the October 7 invasion, but rather has focused on the
idea that Hamas could not have pulled off the invasion without IRGC
training, weapons, and funding. The documents are from October 2020 and
June 2021 and Sinwar brought them into his tunnel lair during the
current war.In February 2024, the IDF produced documents that it
obtained from tunnel areas in Khan Yunis, purporting to show the
transfer of $154 million in funds from Iran to Hamas. In February 2024,
the IDF produced documents that it obtained from tunnel areas in Khan
Yunis, purporting to show the transfer of $154 million in funds from
Iran to Hamas. It showed envelopes of funds provided to Sinwar and the
seizing of large volumes of Hamas funds that were left behind.
The
goal is to create a situation in which Hamas will fear the population
in Gaza,’ expert says-Dr. Ofer Grosbard, a clinical psychologist,
discussed Israel's use of psychological warfare and the next steps in
the war.By PELED ARBELI-APRIL 6, 2025 08:43
Israel may need to
consider an alternative strategy involving the use of psychological
warfare to "end terrorism in Gaza and the West Bank," Dr. Ofer Grosbard,
a former advisor to the Military Intelligence Directorate, told Maariv
on Sunday.“You don’t need to mobilize divisions, and you don’t need to
lose human lives – you need to understand the enemy,” Grosbard, a
clinical psychologist, told Maariv."To this end, psychological warfare
must be used,” he explained. “However, in our security system,
psychological warfare does not exist because a necessary condition for
its existence is understanding the enemy's ways of thinking. “The
terrorist organizations have actually used psychological warfare against
us throughout the years, which reached its peak in the issue of the
hostages. They have what is called an 'external focus of control,' and
therefore, they focus on us, learn, and get to know us. Whereas we, who
have an 'internal focus of control,' focus on ourselves and do not know
them."Grosbard explained: “The psychology of the residents of Gaza and
the West Bank is that of a very traditional population... Therefore,
some of its prominent characteristics are rumors, gossip, conspiracies,
and, above all, fear. This is a culture in which independent thinking is
less developed, group pressure is great, and people are driven mainly
by fear. One can, of course, get the impression that the residents of
Gaza will align themselves with Hamas as a result of fear.“These
non-democratic societies have an external focus of control – that is,
the emphasis is not on what I think and want, but on what the
environment requires and forces me to do,” he highlighted.“For example, a
member of Western culture will automatically stop at a red light. If he
does not do so, he may feel guilty. In contrast, in these (Palestinian)
societies with an external focus of control, the individual may not
stop at a red light if there is no policeman by his side. Order,
therefore, is caused by fear – and not by internalizing values as in
the West. Similarly, the individual will not steal in these societies
because he may be caught – and not because it is ingrained in him that
this is not the way to do things.”The solution to terrorism in Gaza and
the West Bank-Based on the psychological evaluation, Grosbard
recommended two courses of action: first, preventing incitement and
second, creating group pressure against terrorism.“The defense
establishment got confused,” he argued. “This is not a democratic
society where individuals should think independently, and therefore it
is permissible and even desirable to encourage free thinking. We project
our modern thinking onto the enemy and allow incitement in schools,
textbooks, mosques, and social media – with the unconscious assumption
that individuals in these societies have the ability to resist
incitement and form their own opinions independently. But in these
societies, awareness of the instigator’s nature is considered no less
responsible than the instigator. In contrast to a modern society where
every mother will say to her son: ‘So what if he said… that doesn’t mean
you have to listen to him.’"“Incitement is the driving force behind
terrorism,” Grosbard stressed. “If we dry up incitement – there will
be no terrorism. Today, using AI, it is not difficult to detect
incitement content in various places and forms. To deny individuals and
leaders the ability to incite as a result of punishment and fear – is
tantamount to denying their power.”On the second point – creating group
pressure against terrorism, Grosbard explained, “In Proverbs it is
written, ‘Blessed is the man who fears always’ – such is the nature of a
member of the traditional, collective society, from which we all grew
up. If he is not afraid, he is liable to do very serious things.
“Creating a psychological situation in Gaza and the West Bank in which
people will be afraid to engage in terrorism because someone will
immediately report them and turn them in – this is the desired
situation. The nature of their society, which is ruled by fear, must be
understood, and these insights must be used. The goal is to create a
situation in which Hamas members will fear the population that wants to
be free from them – and not the other way around.”Grosbard suggested
that he had the answer on how to spread this fear.“We are establishing a
reward system where anyone who reports a Hamas member or any hostile
activity is rewarded,” he explained. “Reports can be made discreetly via
mobile phones. Anyone found guilty will be severely punished, as will
anyone who knew and did not report. The carrots and sticks are simple:
medical treatment and work in Israel – or their prevention. “Benefits
for family members who report to the authorities – and punishments for
family members of terrorists. Benefits and punishments for family
members are very effective in these collective societies. A Hamas member
who turns himself in, arms himself, and signs a pledge to stop engaging
in terrorism, will not be eliminated.“And every time a Hamas member is
caught engaging in terrorism, his humiliated picture will be published,
and his family will be severely punished. Humiliation is also a winning
weapon in these societies, where the loss of honor is equated with
death.“The Palestinian population must move from a situation where they
are afraid of Hamas to a situation where every Hamas member is afraid
that they will be handed over,” he said, speaking on the future of
Palestinian territories. “This can be done – and for this, you don’t
need divisions of soldiers, just appropriate psychological warfare –
which does not exist at all in the security system today.”“Israel has
declared that a Hamas member who releases a hostage will receive huge
benefits. However, without creating group pressure and denunciation that
forces the Hamas member to behave in this manner, there is no chance of
this. We apply military pressure, but he is willing to fight us and die
with the hostages in order to maintain his honor in the eyes of his
group members. Therefore, harming their honor and humiliating them at
the hands of their group members is the only way to change their
behavior, not military pressure. “Indeed, the release of the hostages
must also go through psychological warfare and understanding the ways of
thinking of our enemy.”
Two British MPs denied entry to Israel
due to 'intention to spread hate speech'The passengers claimed to be
part of an official delegation visiting Israel on behalf of the British
parliament, however, this turned out to be untrue.By MATHILDA
HELLER-APRIL 5, 2025 23:57
Two British MPs, Yuan Yang and Abtisam
Mohamed, were denied entrance to Israel on Saturday, after an
investigation reportedly revealed that the two wished to enter the
country to document the activities of security forces and spread
anti-Israel hatred, Israel's Population and Immigration Authority
announced. The two parliamentarians landed at Ben-Gurion Airport at 2:30
pm on Saturday after flying in from Luton with their two aides. At
airport security, the passengers claimed to be part of an official
delegation visiting Israel on behalf of the British parliament. However,
the Population and Immigration Authority claimed this was untrue as no
official in Israel had approved the arrival of the delegation.During
questioning, the passengers reportedly revealed that the purpose of
their arrival was to "document security forces and spread hate speech
against Israel."As a result, Interior Minister Moshe Arbel decided to
refuse entry to the four and subsequently ordered their removal from
Israel. However, on Saturday night, British foreign secretary David Lammy
confirmed it was indeed a parliamentary delegation. "It is
unacceptable, counterproductive, and deeply concerning that two British
MPs on a parliamentary delegation to Israel have been detained and
refused entry by the Israeli authorities.""I have made clear to my
counterparts in the Israeli government that this is no way to treat
British Parliamentarians, and we have been in contact with both MPs
tonight to offer our support." "The UK government's focus remains
securing a return to the ceasefire and negotiations to stop the
bloodshed, free the hostages, and end the conflict in Gaza," he
added. The Embassy of Israel in the UK official X/Twitter account posted a
response to the incident, saying, "Israel will not allow the entry of
individuals or entities that act against the state and its citizens,
promote calls for its boycott, accuse it with false allegations, or call
for sanctions against ministers and elected officials."— Israel in the
UK (@IsraelinUK) April 6, 2025"Yesterday, in accordance with the law,
two members of the British Parliament were denied entry into Israel by
the interior minister," adding that the two had accused Israel of false
claims and promoted BDS.The statement also added that the two MPs
declined the offer of hotel accommodation, and also chose not to
exercise their right to petition the decision in an Israeli court.
Israel covered their return flight.Following the incident, the two women
issued a joint statement in which they said they were "astounded" at
Israel's "unprecedented" decision to refuse them entry."It is vital that
parliamentarians are able to witness, first-hand, the situation in the
occupied Palestinian territory."The two added that they have been among
the most vocal advocates for the adherence to International Humanitarian
Law in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. They also doubled down on their
claim to be on an official delegation to visit humanitarian in projects
in the West Bank.Who are the MPs? Abtisam Mohamed was born in Yemen. She
is the first Arab woman and the first British Yemeni MP to be elected
as a British MP. She currently serves as the Labour MP for Sheffield
Central.Mohamed has previously called for both a ceasefire in Gaza and
the return of Israeli hostages, praising the "long overdue" return of
Emily Damari and two other Gaza captives on 19 January. In her July 2024
acceptance speech, Mohamed said, "I will use my voice to advocate for
peace, coexistence in the region, for an immediate ceasefire, for the
release of hostages on all sides, for the recognition of Palestine."
However, in a 2 April 2025 Commons Chamber, she accused Israel of ethnic
cleansing and of pursuing the destruction of Gaza."On 30 March, the
first day of Eid, Israeli attacks on Gaza killed dozens of Palestinians,
adding to the death toll since Israel breached the ceasefire agreement.
Israel is now in the process of enacting the largest forced
displacement, ordering hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from
Rafah."How will this end? Israel cannot and will not stop. Is the goal
ethnic cleansing? We are witnessing that. Is the goal the complete
destruction of Gaza? We are now witnessing that. Is the goal the
permanent occupation of Gaza and the West Bank? We continue to witness
that. Is the goal a complete end to the two-state solution? Israeli
Ministers have made their intentions clear. Will the Minister
unequivocally condemn their actions for what they are: war crimes and
crimes against humanity?" Yuan Yang is a British-Chinese Labour MP for
Earley and Woodley. She is also the first Chinese-born British citizen
to be elected to the UK Parliament. On 31 March, she posted on her
official Facebook page, "Eid Mubarak! Next week, I'll be visiting the
West Bank as part of a parliamentary delegation, and this year, I know
many of us will be spending Eid thinking of those who are unable to
celebrate as we are."In a February interview with LBC on 28 March, she
spoke of the importance of UNRWA's recognition of the Palestinian
refugee status, saying that it enables them the "right of
return.""Israel has restarted the bombing, killing yet more
Palestinians, including women and children," she said.In a January 7
speech in parliament, she called for sanctions against Israeli
politicians Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich for "supporting the
illegal resettlement of northern Gaza."She added that "although we have
entered a new year, the horror in Gaza continues," and called for more
action against Israel. A former journalist, her official website says
she is "committed to transparency and accountability."Previous bans of
politiciansOn February 24, MK Arbel banned French-Palestinian politician
Rima Hassan from entering Israel due to her involvement in initiatives
to boycott Israel and her undermining of the Jewish state's
legitimacy.Hassan was refused entry to Israel at Ben-Gurion Airport
alongside other members of an official delegation of the European
Parliament. She was due to visit the West Bank in a trip that had
reportedly received prior approval from Israeli authorities.Diaspora
Minister Amichai Chikli, who urged Arbel to instigate the ban, stated,
“Israel is not obligated to allow the entry of any official
representative from a foreign country if they engage in boycotting it
and undermining its legitimacy."
IDF expands ground operations
in Gaza in North and South-According to security assessments, taking
control of the Morag Axis will allow for the isolation of Rafah from
Gaza to prevent transfer of weapons.By AMIR BOHBOT-APRIL 5, 2025 08:15
The
IDF expanded ground operations in Gaza overnight Friday, in the North
and South, and took control of several areas in Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia,
Rafah, and the Morag Axis.In the early hours of Saturday morning, the
Israeli air force and artillery batteries operated to target terrorist
objectives and support the operating troops. On Friday evening, both
ground troops and the Israeli air force struck in Rafah, Khan Yunis,
Shuja'iya, Gaza City, and Beit Hanoun.Troops are advancing according to
plans, a security source said. "Unlike in the past, we have no intention
of detailing the next moves to the enemy," the source claimed, adding
that "In line with the intensified fighting, IDF spokesperson is
releasing information through various media outlets to the Palestinians
in order to guide them to shelters."During the day on Friday, the
military killed numerous terrorists and dismantled Hamas infrastructure,
including a command and control center that was used for planning and
executing terror attacks, the IDF said in a statement. The IAF also
conducted a series of extensive air strikes east of Gaza City on
Thursday night. In an operation supported by the 401st Brigade’s Fire
Control Center, the IAF killed a terrorist who served as a deputy
company commander in Hamas's Nukhba force. How the renewed fighting will
increase pressure on Hamas -IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir
instructed the IDF spokesman to impose ambiguity on the military plan
while simultaneously expanding safety margins through an increase in the
number of aircrafts in the air, round-the-clock artillery fire,
intelligence support from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, and Shin Bet
(Israel's Security Agency).According to security assessments, the
renewed control of the axis will significantly increase the pressure on
Hamas leadership and raise the likelihood of disorder against Hamas,
combined with the closure of border crossings and the prevention of
humanitarian aid.According to the assessments, taking control of the
Morag Axis will allow for the severing of Rafah from Gaza and create
isolation for the city from the transfer of weapons, ammunition,
terrorists, and access to large food storage and equipment concentrated
in Gaza."Until the fighting began, Hamas chief Mohamed Sinwar had all
the time in the world to rebuild military capabilities and plan attacks
on the IDF and Israeli civilians, a security source added. The new
reality in the Gaza Strip forces Sinwar to divide his attention to
internal matters as well due to concerns about protests, looting,
demands to leave combat zones, and even a potential exit from the Gaza
Strip, rebellion, and desertion.
Yemen Huthi media say one dead in air strikes.
Sanaa,
April 5 (AFP) Apr 05, 2025-Media aligned with Yemen's Huthi rebels on
Saturday said one person was killed and several others wounded in air
strikes in the north of the country that they blamed on the United
States."One citizen was killed and four others wounded in an American
attack against a solar energy site in the Hafsin neighbourhood in the
west of the city" of Saada, said the Saba news agency and Al-Masirah
television channel. Both media earlier reported four air strikes on
Sadaa, the rebel's stronghold in the northern mountains."Civil
protection teams are fighting to put out the blazes and rescue the
victims," said Saba.Rebel-held areas of Yemen have seen near-daily
strikes blamed on the United States since Washington launched an air
campaign against the Huthis on March 15.The group has attacked
commercial and military shipping in what it says is a response to
Israel's campaign in Gaza. The rebels form part of the so-called Axis of
Resistance, an Iran-backed alliance of Middle East groups opposed to
Israel and the United States. The claim came a day after US President
Donald Trump posted a video purportedly showing dozens of Huthi fighters
being killed in an American strike on Yemen.Trump had posted to his
Truth Social platform black-and-white images shot from military drones
or other aircraft. He wrote that the several dozen people in the images
were Huthi fighters planning an attack. After a bright flash appeared in
the middle of the scene, followed by billowing smoke and a close-up of a
crater, Trump said the Huthis would "never sink our ships again!"Saba
denied those targeted in the strike were fighters and insisted the
gathering was an Eid celebration marking the end of the Ramadan fasting
period.
Cambodia hails opening of naval base renovated by China.
Ream,
Cambodia, April 5 (AFP) Apr 05, 2025-Cambodia's leader Hun Manet said
Saturday there was "nothing to hide" as he inaugurated a naval base
renovated in recent years by China, after Washington had voiced concern
over Beijing's role in the upgrades. The United States has said the Ream
Naval Base, located off Cambodia's southern coast, could give China a
key strategic position in the Gulf of Thailand near the disputed South
China Sea, which Beijing claims almost in its entirety.Cambodian senior
officials have repeatedly denied that the base is for use by any single
foreign power, following US media reports in 2022 saying that the new
facilities at Ream were being built for the exclusive use of the Chinese
navy.Military representatives from various nations attended a ceremony
on Saturday marking the inauguration of the renovated Ream base, with
Cambodia rolling out the red carpet for a delegation from China's
People's Liberation Army.Prime Minister Hun Manet hailed the opening of
the upgraded port at the event, where Cambodian and Chinese flags were
flown."We hold the live inauguration today because we want both
Cambodian people, and people and all forces around the world to stop
casting doubt about it," he said in a speech."From today Cambodia will
welcome all friends to hold joint exercises in the Ream base. We have
nothing to hide at all," he added.Hun Manet promised that the new and
improved facility would not be for Beijing's "exclusive" use and that
ships from other countries would be allowed to dock. The ceremony also
featured remarks from Cao Qingfeng, a Chinese senior military official,
who said the port symbolised the "iron-clad friendship" between the two
nations and would "inject new momentum into regional security".He added
that the base would be used for joint military exercises, including the
annual Golden Dragon drills in May.- Staunch allies -Cambodia has long
been one of China's staunchest allies in Southeast Asia, and Beijing has
extended its influence over Phnom Penh in recent years.Under former
leader Hun Sen -- Prime Minister Hun Manet's father -- China poured
billions of dollars into infrastructure investments, while Washington's
relationship with Phnom Penh has deteriorated in recent years.Hun Manet
said Saturday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Cambodia this
month, confirming previously reported plans of such a trip.Beijing has
since 2022 been contributing to a revamp of the Ream Naval Base, which
was originally built partly using US funds.Western concerns about the
base go back as far as 2019, when The Wall Street Journal reported on a
secret draft deal allowing China to dock warships there. In late 2023,
Chinese warships first docked at the 363-metre (1,190-foot) pier,
located on Cambodia's sole coastline in the south of the country between
Thailand and Vietnam.Cambodia is also expected to receive two warships
from China to improve its defence capabilities. In December, a US warship
docked in nearby Sihanoukville in the first American military port call
in eight years. That was followed in February by the visit of a senior
US army commander to Cambodia, featuring a meeting with Hun Manet in a
trip intended to "expand bilateral defence ties".Last month, Cambodia
said a Japanese warship would be the first to dock at the Ream base.
Iran rejects Trump call for direct nuclear talks.
Tehran,
April 6 (AFP) Apr 06, 2025-Iran's top diplomat has dismissed direct
negotiations with the United States as pointless, his office said
Sunday, after US President Donald Trump said he preferred face-to-face
talks over its nuclear programme.Trump sent a letter to Iran's supreme
leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei last month calling for negotiations but
warning of military action if diplomacy failed. On Thursday, the US
president said he favoured "direct talks", arguing they were "faster"
and offered a better understanding than going through intermediaries. But
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said direct talks made no sense
with a country "that constantly threatens to resort to force in
violation of the UN Charter and that expresses contradictory positions
from its various officials"."We remain committed to diplomacy and are
ready to try the path of indirect negotiations," he was quoted as saying
in a statement issued by his ministry."Iran keeps itself prepared for
all possible or probable events, and just as it is serious in diplomacy
and negotiations, it will also be decisive and serious in defending its
national interests and sovereignty."On Saturday, Iranian President
Masoud Pezeshkian said his country was willing to engage in dialogue
with the United States on an "equal footing".He also questioned
Washington's sincerity in calling for negotiations, saying "if you want
negotiations, then what is the point of threatening?"Iran and the United
States have had no diplomatic relations since shortly after the 1979
Islamic Revolution with some regional countries like Oman playing a
mediating role between the two sides.- Letter diplomacy -Trump's letter
was delivered to Iran via the United Arab Emirates, and Tehran responded
at the end of March via the Sultanate of Oman.On Sunday, the chief of
staff of the Iranian armed forces, General Mohammad Bagheri, said Iran's
response stressed that "we seek peace in the region"."We are not the
ones who start wars, but we will respond to any threat with all our
might," he said of the content of Iran's response.Western countries, led
by the United States, have for decades accused Tehran of seeking to
acquire nuclear weapons.Iran rejects the allegation and maintains that
its nuclear activities exist solely for civilian purposes. In 2015, Iran
reached a landmark deal with the permanent members of the UN Security
Council, namely the United States, France, China, Russia, and the United
Kingdom, as well as Germany, to limit its nuclear activities. The 2015
agreement -- known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action -- gave
Iran sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on its nuclear programme to
guarantee that Tehran could not develop a nuclear weapon. In 2018, during
Trump's first term in office, the United States withdrew from the
agreement and reinstated biting sanctions on Iran.A year later, Iran
began rolling back on its commitments under the agreement and
accelerated its nuclear programme. On Monday, Ali Larijani, a close
adviser to Khamenei, warned that while Iran was not seeking nuclear
weapons, it would "have no choice but to do so" in the event of an
attack against it.
Hamas leaders asked Iran for $500 million in
2021 to destroy Israel within 2 years-Defense minister displays letter
by Yahya Sinwar and Muhammad Deif to leader of IRGC, who he says
‘accepted the request’; dozens of protesters in northern Gaza chant
against HamasBy Emanuel Fabian,Nurit Yohanan,Agencies and ToI Staff 6
April 2025, 10:00 pm
Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed an
intelligence document on Sunday showing that Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar
and Muhammad Deif had sent a letter to Iran’s IRGC Quds Force commander
Esmail Qaani in June 2021, seeking support for the terror group’s plans
to invade Israel, which were ultimately carried out on October 7,
2023.“I am presenting here for the first time a document that was found
in the tunnels of senior Hamas officials in Gaza, which proves a direct
relationship between Iran and Yahya Sinwar and Muhammad Deif, as part of
Iran’s support for the Hamas plan to destroy Israel,” Katz said in a
video statement. The statement was recorded during a visit to the
Military Intelligence Directorate’s so-called intelligence collection
and technical spoils unit — known by its Hebrew acronym, “Amshat.”“In
the document, they (the Hamas leaders) ask of the commander of the
[Islamic] Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force to transfer $500 million
for destroying the State of Israel,” he said. The document shows that
Hamas demanded $20 million per month from Iran over two years, “to
achieve these great goals, through which we will change the face of the
world.”“We are confident that by the end of these two years, or during
them, God willing, we will uproot this monstrous entity, and we will end
this dark period in the history of our nation,” the letter reads.Saeed
Izadi, the head of the Palestinian Division in the IRGC, “accepted the
request and replied to them that Iran, despite its difficult economic
situation and the plight of the Iranian population, will continue to
funnel money to Hamas, because the struggle against Israel and the US is
the top priority of the Iranian regime,” Katz said. The defense minister
added that “the conclusion is clear: Iran is the head of the serpent,
and despite all its denials, it is also funding and advancing terror in
all areas, from Gaza, through Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria [the
West Bank] and now with the Houthis in Yemen, under the desire to
destroy Israel.”“Israel will do everything possible to prevent Iran from
obtaining a nuclear weapon and will continue to hit its proxies in the
region until the Iranian evil axis is crushed and defeated,” Katz
said.Dozens protest Hamas in Jabalia, as Israeli strikes
continue-Meanwhile, media outlets in Gaza reported a demonstration in
Jabalia in northern Gaza on Sunday, with dozens of protesters chanting
“Hamas are terrorists” and “Hamas are garbage.”Two weeks ago, there were
several consecutive days of anti-Hamas and anti-war demonstrations in
Gaza, followed by reports that the terror had killed some of the
protesters. The demonstrations were halted for a period, although they
returned last week with a protest in northern Gaza.Gaza’s Hamas-run
health ministry said Sunday that Israeli shelling since Saturday evening
had killed at least four people in the Jabalia refugee camp. The
ministry’s figures cannot be verified, and they do not distinguish
between civilians and combatants.Israel has said it seeks to minimize
civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as
human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals,
schools, and mosques.Israeli strikes overnight into Sunday hit a tent
and a house in the southern city of Khan Younis, killing five men, five
women, and five children, according to Nasser Hospital, which said it
received the bodies.A female journalist was reportedly among those
killed. “My daughter is innocent. She had no involvement, she loved
journalism and adored it,” said the woman’s mother, Amal Kaskeen.“Trump
wants to end the Gaza issue. He is in a hurry, and that is clear from
this morning,” asserted Mohammad Abdel-Hadi, cousin of a woman
killed. The bodies of five people, including a child and three women,
arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza,
according to an Associated Press journalist there. The war in Gaza began
October 7, 2023, when some 5,600 Hamas-led terrorists invaded southern
Israel, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 to the enclave as
hostages.Terror groups in the Strip are still holding 59 hostages, 24 of
whom are believed to be alive, while 35 have been confirmed dead by the
IDF.Israel restarted intense bombing of Gaza on March 18 and then
launched a new ground offensive, shattering a nearly two-month ceasefire
in the war with Hamas.According to the terms of the January 19
ceasefire deal, the sides were to launch negotiations over the second
phase a few weeks into the first, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
refused to do so, insisting that the war would not end until Hamas’s
governing and military capabilities had been demolished.Meanwhile, the
terror group has rejected a series of offers to extend the first phase
of the truce.
Morocco sees mass protests against Israel’s renewed
Gaza offensive, Trump plan-Protesters trample Israeli flags, wave
posters of slain Hamas leaders, as they decry resumed bombing in the
Strip and US proposal to relocate residents en masse-By AP and ToI Staff
6 April 2025, 8:35 pm
Tens of thousands of Moroccans on Sunday
protested Israel’s latest offensive in Gaza while putting anger toward
US President Donald Trump near the center of their
grievances.Demonstrators denounced Israel, the United States, and their
own government. Some stepped on Israeli flags, waved banners displaying
slain Hamas leaders and waved posters juxtaposing Trump alongside
displaced Palestinians fleeing their homes. The protest is one of many
that have since erupted across the Middle East and North Africa, where
leaders typically worry about demonstrations undermining domestic
stability. The protests have included a range of groups, including the
Islamist association al-Adl W’al-Ihsan. Moroccan authorities tolerate
most demonstrations, but have arrested some activists who have rallied
in front of businesses or foreign embassies or implicated the monarchy
in their complaints.Morocco normalized ties with Israel in 2020,
establishing official diplomatic and economic relations with the Jewish
state in wake of similar agreements with Bahrain, the United Arab
Emirates and Sudan. In countries that have historically aligned with the
US, anti-Trump backlash has emerged as a theme. Demonstrators in Rabat
on Sunday condemned his proposal to displace millions of Palestinians to
make way for the redevelopment of Gaza, as well as US efforts to pursue
pro-Palestinian activists.Still, many Moroccans said they saw Trump’s
policies as mostly consistent with his predecessor, Joe Biden’s.“[Trump]
has made the war worse,” said Mohammed Toussi, who traveled from
Casablanca with his family to protest. “Biden hid some things, but Trump
has shown it all.” The protesters, Toussi added, remain angry about
Morocco’s decision to normalize ties with Israel.“It’s not a war, Gaza
is getting erased from the earth,” the 62-year-old Tamesna resident
said.Abdelhak al-Arabi, an adviser to Morocco’s former Islamist prime
minister, said the reasons Moroccans were protesting had grown
throughout the war. He predicted popular anger would continue until the
war ends. The war began when Hamas terrorists attacked southern Israel on
October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and
taking 251 hostages.Organizers condemned Israel’s subsequent military
operation in Gaza, which has killed hundreds of Palestinians since the
government renewed its air and ground offensive last month, after the
collapse of January’s ceasefire.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has
said that the goal of the resumed strikes is to pressure Hamas into
releasing the remaining hostages, and announced last month that hostage
talks would only take place “under fire.”The Hamas-run Gaza health
ministry says more than 50,000 people in the Strip have been killed or
are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be
verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. The
war has left most of Gaza in ruins, and at its height displaced around
90 percent of the population.Israel says it has killed some 20,000
combatants in battle as of January and another 1,600 terrorists inside
Israel on October 7. Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian
fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human
shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals,
schools, and mosques.
